Richmond Mayor Dwight Jones is expected to ask for and receive an extra helping of barbacoa beef during a lunchtime visit today to the popular Chipotle location at Virginia Commonwealth University, sources have confirmed.

The mayoral Chipotle run, which will likely include several key members of Jones’ cabinet, could fall anytime between 11:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. today, said the sources, who spoke on the condition of anonymity.  The mayoral burrito will likely be ordered in person, as to allow the meat and vegetable-filled flour tortilla to be consumed in as fresh a state as possible.

The additional barbacoa – a mix of slow-roasted shredded beef marinated with chipotle adobo, cumin, cloves, garlic and oregano – will cost the mayor an additional $1.10 and will be paid for out-of-pocket and without taxpayer funds.  The “Jonesrrito,” as those close to the mayor call it, will also include guacamole for an extra 85 cents, though the 63-year-old will likely forgo salsa after last month’s tragic pre-important meeting dress shirt spill.

“The mayor has long been a fan of Chipotle’s naturally-raised meats and all-natural ingredients, and when his craving for a burrito hits there’s really no stopping him,” the source said.  “Believe me, we have tried.”

As of 9 a.m., Army helicopters were seen circling the area in preparation for the mayoral Chipotle run, while Virginia State Police had shut down two westbound lanes of Broad Street in advance of the Mexican chowfest.  As of press time, it was unclear whether Jones would order a soda, get a free paper cup for water, or slam a few ice cold brew-daddies.
