A 22-year-old Richmond man was shot dead yesterday, a homicide police say was carried out by a killer who nonetheless held the gun in a totally badass, sideways, gangster-style pose.
Rauhn M. Lockhart, of the 2100 block of Porter Street and who officials said definitely knows how to hold a gun all sweet-like, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Anthony King this morning. If convicted, Lockhart could face up to a life sente
nce in prison, and may never get to hold a 9mm semi-automatic handgun like a badass ever again, which police said totally sucks, because he really did look like something straight out of Menace II Society.
“This was a horrific killing, our hearts go out to the victim’s family, and of course we will stop at nothing until we bring this murderer to justice,” said Richmond police lieutenant Brandon Shearin. “That being said, based on early ballistics evidence, we can confirm from the way that the bullet casing hit the ground that this shooter did hold the weapon horizontally, just like in the movies.”
Added Shearin: “Totally like Denzel Washington in ‘Traning Day,’ or like the kind of pistol-shooting Wu Tang Clan raps about.”
Approximately 15 rounds entered the victim’s body, police said, meaning the shooter emptied one clip – which probably just fell to the ground as if in slow-motion – and popped in a second clip with the palm of his hand, you know, kind of like Bruce Willis does in the Die Hard franchise.
“So cool,” Shearin said. “So, so cool.”
The officer noted that, while the “gangsta-style” of the murderer did look pretty kick-ass, it wasn’t anything as neat as when officers gunned down the killer’s cohort while shooting from the hip all John Wayne-style.
