Though it felt like Saturday, yesterday – the 24-hour period prior to today – was indeed a Thursday, state officials confirmed today.
“I can assure you with 100 percent accuracy that, while even I thought yesterday was the start of a two-day weekend, it was indeed only the fifth day of the week,” Gov. Timothy M. Kaine said today, Friday. “Like many of you, I am indeed back to work today, if only for a day, before Saturday comes tomorrow, as it typically does.”
The governor said that if Jan. 1 ever falls during the middle of a week again, he would consider pushing back the start of the new year to the nearest weekend in order to avoid any forms of what-day-is-it confusion.
