Though he sees enough demand to open a second Davis & Main location, restaurant manager Robert Noland said today that, without another appropriately-named local intersection, he is geographically unable to do so.
“Honestly, we could be branching this place out like a T.G.I Fridays, but, yeah, we really pigeonholed ourselves on the n
ame thing,” Noland said. “Hindsight is 20/20, but I guess this was a pretty poor choice of words now that I think about it.”
Though the business could replicate its large mirrors, dark wood paneling, and “antique feel” in other parts of the city, Noland said he would have to choose from such names as Broad & Fifth, Allen & Main, or branch into the volatile Chamberlayne & Azalea intersections.
And while the 21-year-old restaurant has all but abandoned plans for a second site in Richmond due to the city’s streetscapes, the owner said he has found possible Davis & Main locations on corners in Russellville, Ark., and in Singapore.

Interestingly enough, Madison+Main Advertising found a way to move to Franklin Street.
Fair enough, but I believe Madison+Main is an idea…not a street corner.
That’s as silly as Carytown Books up in Ginter Park. Just come up with a new name, geez!
A geographically restrictive name never slowed down Planet Hollywood. It did, however, lead to the demise of Area 51 in Shockoe Bottom. There was no brand familiarity due to the location of the original.
and Franklin Street Advertising moved to Farrar Court off Midlothian.
