Richmond’s Style Weekly published its annual Top 400,000 under 40 issue today, filled with profiles of the region’s 400,000 most up-and-coming people under the age of 40.

The issue, Style editor Jason Roop said, highlights “the best and brightest young folks, and some who are neither,” with a profile on nearly person living in the metropolitan area under the age of 40.

“Those we have selected for this issue are truly passionate about their hometown and its future and are dedicated to the citizenry’s well-being,” he said.  “Well, a few of them, anyway.”

While the alternative weekly newspaper features local attorney Wendy Robinson (No. 32) and her dedication to after-school educational programs, another story focuses on Richmond man Jeff Henry (No. 346,389), a 32-year-old who enjoys pudding cups, frequently checks Google News and The Huffington Post, and always calls his mother to say that he is safe whenever arriving anywhere by car.

“When you dig past all the politics and drama that we live with daily in our city, it is refreshing to take step back sometimes, and hear some of the more inspiring stories that can be found in the region,” Roop said of the 4,320-page issue, explaining that he was moved to tears by the saga of 28-year-old Jana Bramner’s love of wearing red rain boots even when it is not raining, her lovable pug Mallory, and her self-proclaimed “tragic addiction” to white chocolate.

Style said the list provides enough profiles for every person in the region under age 40, except for 22-year-old Henrico County resident Barry Olenbach, “a complete lame-o who is a waste of our natural resources, still uses dial-up Web access and has not washed his bath towel in nearly three years.”

The issue follows the most recent list published by Style, its Annual Bingo Hall Guide of the area’s top locations to play the traditional game of chance.

How about the “Mediocre over 50″ crowd? The way things are going with newspapers we won’t even get our name in the paper when we die. Our darn obit will be on some server somewhere instead of in the driveways of these 40 somethings who beat us to the presses.
