Owners of the much-ballyhooed Infuzion ice bar said today that they are unable to continue operating the nightclub, blaming the inability to pay rent, a poor location and the rapid increase in temperatures across the Earth for melting the establishment into a giant puddle.

“We knew going into this [venture] that running an ice bar would prove fairly difficult, not only in convincing Richmonders that the city could handle a ‘true club’ atmosphere, but also with the climate crisis our environment is facing these days,” said Infuzion owner Paul Blacker, wading through a small body of water that formerly housed the ice bar.

Blacker, also the chief ice bar scientist, said rent was tough to make on time, and Infuzion was a “hard draw” to lure customers to an unproven area of town still under development.  “Ultimately, though, the rapid heating of the Earth’s core and depletion of ozone led to our demise,” he said.

The global warming-related closing was the second major catastrophe since Infuzion’s opening eight months ago.

In April, a giant steamship bound for America slammed into the North Roseneath Street establishment’s 800-ton ice bar, breaking off a chunk of ice and killing an entire bachelorette party, 14 gay men, the ship’s captain, and this one guy - possibly in an area college fraternity – with really slicked-back hair who looked all European and stuff.

Can’t believe Infuzion closed! Hello I would think the owner would have forecasted rent and when it’s paid in advance of opening of a nightclub! Guess you live and you learn. He should have given it another couple of months though with school starting and with alot of people coming to the area due to all the development in the Fort Lee area etc. I think Richmond needs more upscale cool, chic, stuff going on, sad this had to leave… I did think the location was a bad choice though.
