According to various sources, longtime friend and avid Indiana Jones fan Mark Combs somehow has managed to drop an I
ndiana Jones reference into nearly every single conversation that the two of you have had during the last week.
“Oh man, I think I broke my cell phone at the bar on Saturday night and it’s been acting crazy all week,” the 22-year-old told you yesterday, ”which reminds me: the fourth Indiana Jones comes out Thursday of this week. What do you say to you, me, bag of p-corn, hittin’ up the 8 o’clock [p.m.] show at the Short Pumper?”
The cell phone-to-Indy reference was Combs’ 17th such mention of the series in the last four days, the sources said. Other instances have included a bus trip to work that reminded Combs of that truck-chase part in “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” or how a sighting of a lizard on the steps of a Fan District row house was reminiscent of the archeologist’s hatred of snakes.
Combs then asked if you wanted to go grab lunch, which he said will taste better than the cockroaches he hears the fictional adventurer eats during this one scene in the film, “which will be out in less than 48 hours from today, by the way.”
