SUFFOLK – Picking up the pieces and trying to rebuild after a devastating tornadoes swept across the area, resident Jeremiah Marsh said this morning that while he thoroughly enjoyed the movie “Twister” and thought it was awesome, the real-life ones were nowhere near as cool.

“Businesses damaged, families displaced, cars flipped, homes destroyed and yet not a single sighting of Helen Hunt,” said the 37-year-old mechanic, who witnessed a cow flying through the air that “really didn’t have the same comedic effect” as the classic scene from the 1996 action movie.

“In fact, it was completely unfunny and, honestly, rather disturbing to see that thing writhing painfully through the sky,” Marsh said.  He was, however, thankful for the fact that - while more than 200 people were injured – there are no known fatalities, unlike the two-person death count in “Twister.”

“On the contrary to what you may think after seeing Bill Paxton chase tornadoes, these twisters yesterday were relatively uncool,” he added, noting that the funnel clouds did not look at all like CGI animation.

Marsh then explained that the tornado he saw roar through neighborhoods ”was probably an F4,” according to his vague memory of the twister-intensity scale that is mentioned numerous times by the Paxton character.
