A new super-hyper local community blog will go live in Richmond this week, reporting on news within a single city block just off the Boulevard.

Set to partner with community blogs such as Church Hill People’s News and the Fan District Hub, Grove To Hanover Between Boulevard And Mulberry Area Happenings will launch Thursday and offer a calendar, news and feature commentary from local residents pertaining to – as its name implies – the block that encompasses Grove and Hanover avenues between the Boulevard and Mulberry Street.

“As we watch more traditional media taper off - this being the big community blogs – it is important that we focus on the extremely-hyper local news,” said GTHBBAMAH.net editor Tony Eaves.  “This is stuff that is important to these residents – things that are taking place, literally, just around the corner.”

Articles, he said, could include updates on whoever owns that blue Volkswagen Jetta whose alarm keeps going off; the folks in that apartment complex on the corner who are loud and party all the time even during the early week; and tips on making sure that trash stays out of the alley behind that really nice brick house on Mulberry before they call the cops on everyone’s asses again.

Big media like Fan District hub has been unable to capture what’s truly important to me and my immediate surroundings. Tonight I will be launching Apartment 6: Real Local News. Contributors include myself, my two roomates and a selection of close friends. Too long has the hand of local advertisers driven the debate. Sections include What’s For Dinner?, Who Ate the Donut Holes and When Are We Getting A Washer. Wait, breaking news, I just received an offer from Media General to buy this idea before it goes to press, and I’m taking it. Vacation time!

Scabiesblog is about to launch as well.

It’s a community blog for members of the scabies community who live in and around my irritated skin.

The disloyal scabies in my mattress have already started their own exclusive community blog, so don’t expect us to cover any of their happenings.
