A mattress maker from Poland plans to open a factory in Danville, where the company will make clothless and material-free bedding constructed from nothing but pure air.

The announcement was made today by the company’s chief executive officer, who flew into the Southwest Virginia town early this morning on a helicopter with ejection seats.

“This is a great day for Virginia, as we will bring jobs and an economic boost to a much distressed part of your state,” said Com.40 Ltd. CEO Florjan Mitsk, whose company will join two other Polish manufacturers in the area that make glass hammers and motorcycles with air conditioning.  A nearby Polish services company employs nearly 4,000 workers, one of whom holds the bulb while the others rotate the ladder.

“I am looking forward to doing business in America, and I have learned a lot about your country since reading a book that taught me how to read,” he added.

Mitsk, whose grandfather was a Polish kamikaze pilot who flew nearly 70 successful missions in World War II, said he was happy to have opened a new plant in America.  It is the first time a Polish company has moved outside of the country since Poland recently learned that boats must be able to float and a plane is not just a flat surface.
